My favorite writer

My favorite writer is Mario Benedetti, he was born in Paso de los Toros, Uruguay on September 14, 1920 and died on May 17, 2009, was a Uruguayan writer featured poet, novelist, dramatist, storyteller and critic who, together with others, was the most important figure in Uruguayan literature of the second half of the 20th century  and one of the great names of the Boom of Spanish American literature.

Cultivator of all genres, his incredible literary production includes more than eighty books plus his novels like La tregua (1960) or Gracias por el fuego (1965) were adapted for the big screen, and various singers contributed to spread their poetry by singing their verses . The most striking features of his writing, accessible language, simplicity and expressive and stylistic modality, his intention is to establish a dialogue with the reader, a relationship between the two, create a closeness as natural as possible. The writer speaks always of life, of love, of his land and two fundamental features in his writing is humor and irony.  Personally I enjoy his novels and poems, among my favorites 'vivir adrede', 'buzón de tiempo', 'la borra del cafe' y 'el amor, las mujeres y la vida'
